Fall is starting to make its presence known across the country. Football season is about to kickoff, school is getting back into full swing and stores are clearing out summer merchandise.

With autumn soon upon us, it’s time for a wardrobe change, and time to browse fall fashion on findnsave.com. In this week’s post, I’m jumping head-first into fall fashion and what pieces should find a new home in your closet, or even what old items should find their way back in.

Harper’s Bazaar provided a great breakdown of coverage of upcoming trends from New York’s Fashion Week Fall 2013. Here are a few that you should be on the lookout for.

All green everything. Emerald is the 2013 Pantone color of the year and it’s still showing in fall fashion. All shades of green have hit the shelves, in particular the rich, earthy tones to reflect the new season. Grab a pair of ankle length skinnies, like these from 7 for All Mankind, on sale now at Bloomingdales for less than $165.

These would pair perfectly with over-the-knee leather boots or pumps. Want more green? Opt for a silk blouse to pair under a structured blazer, or slouchy cable knit sweater to wear with jeans.

American Pastoral is all about cozy, classic American style. Think neutral knits, high leather boots, fur adornments and tweed. Pair this collar-less tweed jacket from Anthropologie over a lace dress for a playful and romantic look, ideal for the office or Sunday brunch with friends.

The jacket is available for under $150, and it even has some shimmer in the threading, making a nice and subtle statement.

Patterns. Dresses, blouses and even pants are popping up in step-and-repeat patterns that will be sure to please. Take a leap and go for an all-over pattern. Flatter your waist and your wallet with this animal print dress from Kohl’s 212 Collection. It’s on sale for under $25 – you can’t beat that!

You can also mix patterns or pair a bold pattern with a solid color. I’m sure you’ve already stumbled across these in fashion magazines, but how amazing are these J Crew floral print trousers?! I know they’re from Spring 2013, but I must get my hands on a pair.

Grey is the new neutral. We all have our go-to stores for classic t-shirts, sweaters and other basics. Whatever your brand of choice is, grab a few of your favorites in a variety of grey shades. I personally love H&M and Target’s basics. Both are affordable and offer various classic styles, typically under $25.

Street chic with leather. Leather is now a fabric that is acceptable to wear in all seasons. Looks pulled from the runway include, high-waisted pencil skirts with a punk rock feel, belted peplum blouses, and motorcycle and bomber jackets. This Michael by Michael Kors Ponte & Faux Leather Skirt is available at Nordstrom for under $90.

Dare to mix it up? Pair it with a tailored button down, for an instant office hit.

I myself am a dreamer, and if money was no object I’d be throwing down for this Free People military style leather jacket for a pretty $1350, and it’s green!
